Suspension bridge "Europaweg"

Project description:
The hydraulic cylinders are regulating the tension of the supporting cables of the bridge.
This method has never been used before for tensioning a suspension bridge.

The cylinders have been engineered and constructed in-house at ATP Hydraulik in Küssnacht am Rigi, Switzerland (Swiss Made).

Environment:
Re-opening of the new suspension bridge "Europabrücke", on July 29, 2017. The old one had to be closed for security reasons seven years ago.
The new suspension bridge makes the hiking trail "Europaweg" between Grächen und Zermatt accessible again.
The new «Europe-Bridge named after Charles Kuonen» measures 494 m, with a height of 85 m, and twice as long as its predecessor, which had been destroyed only two months after opening in 2010.
It is thus the longest pedestrian hanging bridge in the world.
Now the bridge is located about 200 m below the first one and therefore at ones discretion outside the danger of falling rocks.
